Healthy Apple Crumble
Filling:
- 9 apples (honey crisp or gala)
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 1.5 tablespoons sugar or coconut sugar
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour or gluten-free
Topping:
- 1 cup oats old fashioned or quick oats
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour or gluten-free
- 2 tablespoons sugar or coconut sugar
- 3 tablespoons coconut oil or butter
- 3 tablespoons raisins or dried cranberries (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Begin by peeling and thinly slicing apples, and place them in a large bowl. Add lemon juice to prevent browning.
- In the same bowl, mix together all of the Apple Crumble Filling ingredients. Once fully combined, transfer the mixture to a pie pan or 9×9 baking dish.
- Using the same bowl, combine the Apple Crumble Topping ingredients and mix together with your fingers until it becomes clumpy.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples in the pan or dish.
- Bake for 60 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
- Once done, take the dish out of the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious homemade apple crumble!
